Pitti Immagine Uomo

The iconic Fratelli Rossetti shoe in a new version in brushed calfskin.
The polished look is back! A trend represented by the Brera, the iconic tasselled moccasin by Fratelli Rossetti. This is the proposal made by the Parabiago-based company to mark the 81st edition of Pitti Immagine Uomo.
The Brera has been hand-brushed by the master artisans at Fratelli Rossetti using the exclusive Fender technique: a process that makes the base colour of the leather show through, giving it new shine. The effect is that of a patent leather, brilliant and bright, but with a natural antique effect.
After the cutting and sewing, the shoe is polished and brushed by hand with the “Fender” method. This operation allows 3 different shades of colour to emerge from the leather, thereby ensuring it is as shiny as patent leather.
Even today the Brera is made in keeping with traditional methods. One of the defining features is the hand-stitching on the vamps of the moccasin: an operation that calls for two and a half metres of cotton thread, and is carried out by a highly specialised artisan. Even the tassel is made by hand: a long strip of leather which is rolled around itself, creating the tassel tuft.
The origin of the moccasin dates back to the Seventies, when Renzo Rossetti first introduced the "tassels". In an Italy that was still austere, this original decorative element represented a revolution in its own right.
Elegant and anti-conformist, the Brera takes its name from the time-honoured Milanese neighbourhood which has long provided the backdrop for artistic movements and new trends.
