Fratelli Rossetti takes inspiration from Doctor Zhivago
Russian influences abound in the velvet and embroidery adorning Fratelli Rossetti’s icons

For the Fall Winter 2016-17 Women’s Collection, Fratelli Rossetti takes inspiration from the lush atmosphere of Doctor Zhivago: the classic work by the Nobel Prize winner Boris Leonidovich Pasternak captured popular imagination with its dramatic settings and costumes.

Velvet and embroidery rule at Rossetti to evoke Imperial Russia’s grandeur. Against the backdrop of Palazzo Visconti, which calls to mind the architectural splendour of Tsarist Russia, this season’s shoes standout. A swirl of colours intensifies the allure.

Four classic shoes are highlighted: pumps, stacked heel slip on shoe, Fratelli Rossetti’s iconic Brera loafers, and slippers. Each is made of velvet and opulently embellished with embroidery reminiscent of the decorative brocades onsarafans, the traditional Russian dress. The Brera loafer is adorned with organza tassels and gilt details that evoke the lavish curtains in Imperial palaces. Fine passementerie adds the finishing touch.

Fratelli Rossetti was founded in 1953 by the visionary genius Renzo Rossetti in Parabiago, just outside Milan. At the time, a national fashion industry was just beginning to develop in Italy. Today brothers Diego, Luca and Dario from the second generation of the family, oversee the company. With their dedication and devotion, they have taken the company to its 60th anniversary and beyond. Around the globe, the brand synonymous with style, embodying the values of unparalleled craftsmanship.
